For complaints against Queensland registered veterinary surgeons alleging negligent or incompetent practice, please use the following forms and documentation:
All complaints should be forwarded to the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Queensland, GPO Box 46, Brisbane Qld 4001.
The offence provisions of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1936 (www.legislation.qld.gov.au) are listed in part 4B of the Act. The meaning of the term ‘professional misconduct’ is not limited in the Act but Section 22F provides a list of examples.
Complaints relating to non-veterinarians
Incidents of non-veterinarians claiming to be veterinarians or performing acts of veterinary science should be reported to the Veterinary Surgeons Board. An investigation will proceed if there is sufficient evidence that the person may be acting illegally.
Complaints relating to veterinarians
Complaints against veterinarians alleging negligent or incompetent practice or other actions which may constitute professional misconduct should be lodged with the Veterinary Surgeons Board in writing.

The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) is the recognised professional association of veterinarians. Its mission is to promote, support and represent the veterinary profession by providing quality services to members and the community. The AVA administers a professional code of conduct which registered veterinarians are expected to respect.
